Removal Procedure
- Apply the parking brake.
- Block the vehicle wheels.
- Drain all of the air reservoirs. Refer to
Draining Reservoirs
in Air Brakes.
Important: Tag the air lines for later installation.
- Remove the air lines at the differential lock control valve. Refer to
Hose and Line Replacement - Nylon and Metal Compression
in Air Brakes.
- Disconnect the wiring
harness connector.
- Remove the following components from the differential lock control
valve:
- Remove the differential lock control valve.
Installation Procedure
- Install the differential lock control valve.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the following components to the differential lock control valve:
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
- Connect the wiring harness
connector.
- Install the air lines
at the differential lock control valve. Refer to
Hose and Line Replacement - Nylon and Metal Compression
in Air
Brakes.
- Start the engine.
- Inspect for air leaks. Refer to
Air Brake System Testing
in Air Brakes.
- Verify proper operation of the inter-axle differential lock.
- Remove the wheel blocks.
