  1. Apply a thin coat of transmission oil to all of the shift rods and bushings prior to installation.
  2. Install the shift shaft seal (3) to the housing.
  3. Install the boot (2) on the shift lever shaft (1).
  4. Install the shift lever shaft (1) in the internal shift control lever (4) and the housing.
  5. Install a NEW control tube retaining ring (5).
  6. Install the shift shaft cover (6).

  8. Install the select lever and bracket to the housing.
  9. Install the nut for the select lever (2).
  10. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  11. Install 2 bolts and nuts for the select lever rod bracket (1).
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the select lever bracket nuts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  13. Install the range select shift seal (3) in the housing.
  14. Install the select internal lever (4) with the washer (2) to the housing.
  15. Install the select control lever (1).
  16. Install the nut and bolt for the select control lever (1).
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the select control lever nut to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  18. Assemble the detent link rod if disassembled.
  19. Adjust the detent link rod to the same length before disassembled.

  20. Install the detent link rod.
  21. Install the nuts for the detent link rod.
  22. Tighten
    Tighten the detent link rod nuts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
