  1. Clean all the parts in a suitable cleaning solvent. Air dry the parts.
  2. Clean sealant from the sealing surfaces.
  3. Inspect the sealing surfaces for scratching or pitting.
  4. Inspect all parts for wear and damage.
  5. Inspect the shift shafts for the following:
    6. • Rounding of detent shoulders.
    • Bent
    • Scored

  6. Inspect for bent shift forks.
  7. Inspect the shift fork arm for wear.
  8. Measure the shift fork arm thickness.
    9. • The standard thickness of the shift arm is 11 mm (0.433 in).
    • The minimum thickness of the shift arm is 10 mm (0.3937 in).

  9. Inspect the detent springs for distortion.
  10. Measure the detent spring length.
    11. • The standard length of the detent spring is 37.8 mm (1.488 in).
    • The minimum length of the detent spring is 34 mm (1.3385 in).
