Removal Procedure

  1. Tilt the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 389805  Size: SH
  3. Place a container under the power steering reservoir.
  4. Clean the surfaces of the power steering reservoir hoses.
  5. Disconnect the power steering reservoir hoses (2, 4).
  6. Remove the hoses from the reservoir (1).
  7. Important: Cap the hoses to prevent dirt from entering the system.

  8. Allow the reservoir to drain.
  9. Remove the following components:
  10. • The bracket bolts (5)
    • The washers
    • The reservoir (1)

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the reservoir on the bracket
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the following components:
  4. 2.1. The bracket bolts (2)
    2.2. The washers

    Tighten
    Tighten the reservoir mounting bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

    2.3. Install the hoses (2, 4) to the reservoir.
    2.4. Fill the system with new power steering fluid.
    2.5. Bleed the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
    2.6. Lower the cab.
