Did you review the Power Windows Description and Operation?

  1. Turn ON the ignition with, the engine OFF.
  2. Ensure the window lockout function is disabled.
  3. Operate the power window from both the passenger window switch and the driver window switch.

Does the power window operate properly from both switches?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Does the power window operate from the passenger window switch and not the driver window switch?

Go to Step 5

Does the power window operate from the driver window switch and not the passenger window switch?

  1. Disconnect the driver power window switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the driver window switch ignition 3 voltage circuit at the window switch harness connector and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

  1. Connect the driver power window switch.
  2. Disconnect the passenger power window switch.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the power window up signal circuit at the passenger power window switch harness connector and a good ground.
  4. Actuate the driver power window switch in the up position.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power window down signal circuit at the passenger power window switch harness connector and a good ground.
  2. Actuate the driver power window switch in the down position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the passenger power window switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the power window lockout signal circuit at the passenger power window switch harness connector and a good ground.

Connect a test lamp between the ignition 3 voltage circuit at the passenger power window switch harness connector and a good ground.

Connect a test lamp between the ground circuit at the passenger power window switch harness connector and B+.

  1. Connect the passenger power window switch.
  2. Disconnect the passenger power window motor.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor up circuit at the power window motor harness connector and a good ground.
  4. Actuate the passenger power window switch in the up position.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor down circuit at the power window motor harness connector and a good ground.
  2. Actuate the passenger power window switch in the down position.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor up and down circuits at the power window motor harness connector.
  2. Actuate the passenger power window switch in the up and down positions.

Did the test lamp illuminate in both directions?

  1. Remove the power window relay.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the power window relay battery positive voltage circuit at the relay center and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Turn ON the ignition with, the engine OFF.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the power window relay ignition 1 voltage circuit at the relay center and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a fused jumper across the battery positive voltage circuit and the ignition 3 voltage circuit at the relay block.
  2. Operate the power window from the power window switches.
