Did you review the system operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  2. With a DMM, measure the voltage of the battery and compare the voltage value with the volt gage display in the IPC.

Does the volt gage display approximately the same value as the battery voltage?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Test the ignition voltage circuit of the volt gage for an open, for a short to ground, or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 6

Test the ground circuit of the volt gage for an open or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
