- Remove the overdrive clutch
roller assembly (512) from the overdrive carrier assembly (514).
- Remove the overdrive carrier
pinion gear pin retaining ring (521) from the overdrive carrier assembly (514).
- Remove the overdrive carrier pinion gear pin retainer (520).
Important:
• | Before removing the overdrive carrier pinion gear pins (519),
mark the location of the overdrive carrier pinion gears (518) and the
overdrive carrier pinion gear pins (519) so they can be identified
for reassembly. |
• | Keep all washers and roller bearings together with the overdrive
carrier pinion gear and pin they were removed with. The pinion gears, washers
and roller bearings must be reinstalled in their original locations. |
- Remove one overdrive carrier pinion gear (518) and pin (519)
at a time.
- Inspect the overdrive carrier pinion gear (518), pin (519),
roller bearings (517), steel thrust washers (516) and thrust
washers (515) for wear or damage.
- Remove the overrun clutch
housing thrust bearing assembly (513) from the overdrive carrier assembly (514).
The bearing will fall out when the pinion gears are removed.
- Inspect the pinion pocket
thrust surfaces for burrs.
- Inspect the overdrive clutch roller assembly (512).
- Inspect the overdrive carrier assembly (514) for cracks,
damage and wear.
- Inspect the overrun clutch housing thrust bearing assembly (513).
- Remove the overdrive carrier pinion gear pin retaining ring (521) from the overdrive carrier assembly (514).
- Remove the overdrive carrier pinion gear pin retainer (520).
