  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 3782 Size: SH
  1. Clean the sealing surfaces where the cylinder head and the rocker arm cover meet. Use an approved cleaning solvent.

  2. Object Number: 3783 Size: SH
  3. Inspect the sealing flanges of the rocker arm cover for distortion.

  4. Object Number: 1155 Size: SH
  5. Install the rocker arm cover gasket in the groove around the rocker arm cover.

  6. Object Number: 1146 Size: SH
  7. Install the rocker arm cover to the cylinder head.
  8. Install the rocker arm cover bolts.
  9. Tighten
Tighten the rocker arm cover bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Install the spark plug wires to the spark plugs.

  11. Object Number: 32480 Size: SH
  12. Install the PCV valve to the valve rocker arm cover.
  13. Install the vacuum hose for the vacuum brake booster.
  14. Install the throttle cable mounting bracket to the throttle body.
