For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Remove the oil pan drain plug and allow oil to drain from the oil pan.
  2. Remove the oil filter.
  3. Remove coolant jacket drain plugs and allow coolant to drain from cooling jacket.
  4. Install oil pan drain plug and the coolant jacket plugs.
  5. • Reinstall the oil pan drain plug.

    Tighten
    Oil Pan Drain Bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    • Reinstall the coolant jacket drain plugs.

    Tighten
    Coolant Jacket Plugs to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  6. If cleaning or repairing engine block it is not necessary to reinstall the plugs.
