Neither The Radio Nor The Blower Motor Operate

DEFINITION: Neither the radio nor the blower motor nor the windshield wipers nor the power windows (if equipped) operate. However, the brake lights do operate.

  1. Locate the BLK (2) fusible link for the RED (1342) wire at the Battery Junction Block.
  2. Test the fusible link by pulling on the RED (1342) wire attached to the fusible link.

Did the BLK (2) fusible link wiring jacket stretch or break when pulled?

  1. Disconnect In-Line Connector C211 at the Steering Column.
  2. Connect a test lamp between In-Line Connector C211 Pin D2 for the RED (1342) wire and ground.

Did the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 3

  1. Locate and repair the open circuit in the RED (1342) wire between Splice S114 and In-Line Connector C211.
  2. Connect In-Line Connector C211 at the Steering Column.

Are the repairs completed?

--

Go to Engine Electrical Diagnostic System Check .

Replace the Ignition Switch.

Are the repairs complete?

Go to Engine Electrical Diagnostic System Check .

  1. Disconnect the BLK (2) fusible link from the Battery Junction Block.
  2. Connect a self-powered test lamp from In-Line Connector C211 Pin D2 for the RED (1342) wire and ground.

Did the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 6

  1. Locate and repair the short to ground on the RED (1342) wire between Splice S114 and In-Line Connector C211.
  2. Connect In-Line Connector C211.
  3. Replace the BLK (2) fusible link.

Are the repairs complete?

--

Go to Engine Electrical Diagnostic System Check .

  1. Remove RADIO Fuse 11 from the I/P Fuse Block.
  2. Connect a self-powered test lamp between I/P Fuse Block Cavity K4 for the BRN (4) wire and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 8

  1. Locate and repair the short to ground on the BRN (4) wire between In-Line Connector C211 and the I/P Fuse Block.
  2. Install RADIO Fuse 11 in the I/P Fuse Block.
  3. Connect In-Line Connector C211.
  4. Replace the BLK (2) fusible link.

Are the repairs complete?

  1. Install RADIO Fuse 11 in the I/P Fuse Block.
  2. Remove BRAKE Fuse 12 from the I/P Fuse Block.
  3. Connect a self-powered test lamp between I/P Fuse Block Cavity M6 for the ORN (300) wire and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Locate and repair the short to ground on the ORN (300) wire between In-Line Connector C211 and the I/P Fuse Block.
  2. Install BRAKE Fuse 12 in the I/P Fuse Block.
  3. Connect In-Line Connector C211.
  4. Replace the BLK (2) fusible link.

Are the repairs complete?

Go to Engine Electrical Diagnostic System Check .

  1. Place the Ignition Switch in the Lock position.
  2. Connect a self-powered test lamp between In-Line Connector C211 Cavity D2 for the RED (1342) pigtail lead and ground.
  3. Observe the test lamp.
  4. Place the Ignition Switch in the Run position.
  5. Observe the test lamp.
  6. Place the Ignition Switch in the Start position.
  7. Observe the test lamp.
  8. Place the Ignition Switch in the Off position.
  9. Observe the test lamp.
  10. Place the Ignition Switch in the Accessory position.
  11. Observe the test lamp.
  12. Place the Ignition Switch in the Off position.

Did the test lamp light with the Ignition Switch in any position?

  1. Replace the Ignition Switch.
  2. Install BRAKE Fuse 12 in the I/P Fuse Block.
  3. Replace the BLK (2) fusible link.

Are the repairs complete?

  1. Install BRAKE Fuse 12 in the I/P Fuse Block.
  2. Connect In-Line Connector C211.
  3. Replace the BLK (2) fusible link.
