  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  4. Remove the AIR BAG fuse from the fuse block.
  5. Remove LH I/P sound insulation. Refer to Instrument Panel Replacement in Interior Trim Section 10A4.
  6. Remove LH Knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolsters in Interior Trim Section 10A4.
  7. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the yellow 2-way connector at the base of the steering column.
  8. Important: The AIR BAG warning lamp will turn on when the AIR BAG fuse is removed, and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) malfunction.

  9. Disconnect the yellow 2-way connector.
