Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 31510  Size: SH
  1. Remove the intake manifold.
  2. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .


    Object Number: 173197  Size: SH
  3. Remove the exhaust manifolds.
  4. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement .


    Object Number: 188295  Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering pump and the bracket using the following procedure:
  6. 3.1. Remove the air conditioning compressor, if equipped.

    Refer to Compressor Replacement in HVAC.

    3.2. Remove two nuts from the power steering pump.
    3.3. Remove three bolts from the front of the bracket.
    3.4. Remove one nut from the front of the bracket.
    3.5. Slide the bracket off of the stud.
    3.6. Remove the stud from the cylinder head.

  7. Remove the generator.
  8. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  9. Remove the generator bracket using the following procedure:
  10. 5.1. Remove three bolts from the front of the bracket.
    5.2. Remove one nut from the front of the bracket.
    5.3. Slide the bracket off of the stud.
    5.4. Remove the stud from the cylinder head.

  11. Remove the push rods.
  12. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .

  13. Remove the cylinder head.
  14. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal .

  15. Clean all surfaces.
  16. Refer to Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 5129  Size: SH
  1. Install the cylinder head.
  2. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation .


    Object Number: 4047  Size: SH
  3. Install the push rods.
  4. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .


    Object Number: 196643  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the generator bracket to the right cylinder head using the following procedure:
  6. 3.1. Install the stud to the cylinder head.
    3.2. Loosely assemble the bracket over the stud.
    3.3. Install a nut to the stud finger tight.
    3.4. Install three bolts finger tight.

    Tighten
    Tighten the nuts and bolts to 44 N·m (32 lb ft).

  7. Install the generator.
  8. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.


    Object Number: 188295  Size: SH
  9. Install the accessory bracket to the left cylinder head using the following procedure:
  10. 5.1. Install the stud to the cylinder head.
    5.2. Loosely assemble the bracket over the stud.
    5.3. Install a nut to the stud finger tight.
    5.4. Install three bolts finger tight.
    5.5. Install two nuts to the power steering pump finger tight.

    Tighten
    Tighten the nuts and bolts to 44 N·m (32 lb ft).

  11. Install the air conditioning compressor, if equipped.
  12. Refer to Compressor Replacement in HVAC.
