Engine Flywheel Replacement Manual

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 345944  Size: SH
  1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission - NV 3500.
  2. Remove the clutch assembly. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement in Clutch.
  3. Remove the bolts and the engine flywheel.

  4. Object Number: 64126  Size: SH

    Important: If replacing the manual transmission engine flywheel, NEW balance weights must be installed into the NEW engine flywheel in the same location as the old engine flywheel.

  5. Note the position of any manual transmission engine flywheel balance weights for assembly (if applicable).
  6. Clean and inspect all parts. Refer to Engine Flywheel Clean and Inspect .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 64126  Size: SH

    Important: If replacing the engine flywheel note the position of the original balance weights (if applicable). Balance weights must be installed into the new engine flywheel in the same location.

  1. Note the position of the engine flywheel balance weights and install the engine flywheel balance weights as required.
  2. A properly installed engine flywheel balance weight will be flush or slightly below flush with the face of the engine flywheel.

  3. Install the engine flywheel to the crankshaft.
  4. Align the locator hole to the pin.

  5. Object Number: 63174  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the engine flywheel bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the engine flywheel bolts in sequence to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).

  8. Install the clutch assembly. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement in Clutch.
  9. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission - NV 3500.

Engine Flywheel Replacement Automatic

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 188130  Size: SH
  1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4L60-E.
  2. Remove the bolts and the engine flywheel.
  3. Clean and inspect all parts. Refer to Engine Flywheel Clean and Inspect .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 188130  Size: SH
  1. Install the engine flywheel to the crankshaft.
  2. Align the locator hole to the pin.

  3. Object Number: 63174  Size: SH
