Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  2. Remove the left side of the instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  3. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  4. Disable the SRS. Refer to Disabling the SRS in SRS.
  5. Remove the nuts that retain the steering column to the vehicle.
  6. Lower the steering column for clearance.

  7. Remove the screws that retain the instrument panel accessory trim plate to the instrument panel.
  8. Remove the instrument panel accessory trim plate.
  9. Disconnect the electrical connectors, as needed.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the electrical connectors, as needed.

  2. Object Number: 303364  Size: SH
  3. Install the instrument panel accessory trim plate.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the screws that retain the instrument panel accessory trim plate to the instrument panel.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

  7. Raise the steering column into place. Attach the mounting nuts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts that retain the steering column to the steering column bracket to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  9. Enable the SRS system. Refer to Enabling the SRS in SRS.
  10. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  11. Install the left instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  12. Connect the battery negative cable.
