  1. Ensure that the engine oil level is correct.
  2. Ensure that the engine develops adequate oil pressure. Refer to Oil Pressure Diagnosis and Testing in Engine Mechanical - 2.2L or Oil Pressure Diagnosis and Testing in Engine Mechanical - 4.3L.
  3. Remove the connector from the engine oil pressure gauge sensor.
  4. Connect a variable 100 ohms resistor between the engine oil pressure gauge sensor connector terminal A and the ground.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  6. Turn the variable resistance (potentiometer) back and forth for maximum to minimum resistance.

Does the oil pressure gauge operate normally?

0 ohms (no oil pressure)

88 ohms (maximum oil pressure)

Go to Step 3

  1. Replace the engine oil pressure gauge sensor.
  2. Reconnect the engine oil pressure gauge sensor connector.

Is the repair complete?

Go to IPC System Check

  1. Remove the IPC.
  2. Test the continuity on CKT 331 (TAN/WHT) between the IPC connector cavity A2 and the engine oil pressure gauge sensor connector cavity A.

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 6

Repair the open or short in CKT 331.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to IPC System Check

Replace the IPC.
