The Electro-Motor Cruise Control is a speed control system that maintains a desired vehicle speed under normal driving conditions. The system performs the following functions:
• | Cruise |
• | Coast |
• | Resume Speed |
• | Accelerate |
• | Tap-up |
• | Tap-down |
Depress the Set and R/A switches simultaneously in order to cancel cruise control operation while keeping the desired speed in device memory.
The cruise control module contains an electronic controller and an electric motor. The controller performs the following functions:
• | Monitors vehicle speed |
• | Operates the stepper motor |
In response to the controller, the motor moves a connecting strap that is attached to the cruise control cable. The cruise control cable moves the throttle linkage in order to vary the throttle position. This action maintains the desired speed. The cruise control module prevents system engagement below a minimum speed of approximately 40 km/h (25 mph). The mode control switches control the cruise control module. The mode control switches are part of the multifunction lever.
When the ignition switch is in the RUN position, CKT 41 (BRN) applies battery voltage to the cruise control module .
When the cruise control switch is moved to the ON position, CKT 397 (GRY) supplies battery voltage to the cruise control module. When the cruise control switch is moved to the R/A position, CKT 87 (GRY/BLK) supplies voltage to the cruise control module. When the SET/COAST switch is depressed, CKT 84 (DK BLU) supplies voltage to the cruise control module.
When the brake pedal or clutch is not depressed, CKT 379 (BRN/WHT) supplies voltage to the cruise control module. When the brake pedal is depressed, CKT 1320 (LT BLU) supplies voltage to the cruise control module and CKT 379 (BRN/WHT) does not carry voltage. When the clutch pedal is depressed, CKT 379 (BRN/WHT) does not carry voltage.
CKT 817 (DK GRN/WHT) provides vehicle speed signal inputs to the cruise control module. Voltage will oscillate during operation. The high point of the voltage oscillation is between 4-5 volts. The low point of the voltage oscillation is near 0 volts. CKT 451 (BLK/WHT) provides ground for the cruise control module.
