  1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Ensure that the vehicle is leveled.
  3. Inspect the rear axle for any lubricant leak.
  4. Clean the area around the rear axle housing filler plug.

  5. Object Number: 607207  Size: SH
  6. Remove the rear axle housing filler plug from the passenger side of the rear axle differential.
  7. The lubricant level is to be maintained at the bottom edge of the filler plug hole WHEN COLD.
  8. Add more lubricant if needed. Refer to Lubrication Specifications .
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Install the rear axle housing filler plug into the rear axle differential.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the rear axle housing filler plug to 32.5 N·m (24 lb ft).

  12. Lower the vehicle.
