J 6627-A Wheel Stud Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear tires and wheels assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the rear brake drums or brake rotors. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement in Drum Brakes or Front Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.

  4. Object Number: 65316  Size: SH
  5. Use the J 6627-A in order to remove the stud from the axle flange.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 65317  Size: SH
  1. Start the new stud into the axle flange hole by pressing firmly with your hand.
  2. Install three flat washers (1) to the wheel stud (3).
  3. Install a lug nut (2) with the flat surface to the washers.
  4. Tighten the lug nut until the stud head is fully seated in the flange.

  5. Object Number: 360809  Size: SH
  6. Remove the lug nut (2) and the washers (1) from the wheel stud (3).
  7. Install the rear brake drums or brake rotors. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement in Drum Brakes or Front Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  8. Install the rear tires and wheels assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
