For 1990-2009 cars only
- Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Remove the SIR Fuse from the IP fuse block.
- Remove the LH sound insulator, if equipped. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the driver yellow 2-way connector located at the base of the steering column.
- Disconnect the driver yellow 2-way connector located at the base of the steering column.
- Open the instrument panel compartment door, lift, stop and allow door to fully open.
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the passenger yellow 2-way connector located behind the glove box.
- Disconnect the passenger yellow 2-way connector located behind the glove box.
Important: With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition switch in the RUN position, The AIR BAG warning lamp illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SRS malfunction.
