A permanent magnet motor operates each of the power side windows. Each motor raises or lowers the glass when voltage is supplied to the motor. The direction in which the motor turns depends on the polarity of the supply voltage. The side window switches control the supply voltage polarity.

The left front door lock and side window switch controls all of the motors. The other window switches control only the window regulator in that door.

Each motor is protected by a built-in circuit breaker. If a window switch is held too long with the window obstructed or after the window is fully up or down, the circuit breaker opens the circuit. The circuit breaker resets automatically as the circuit cools.

Left Door Lock and Side Window Switch Operation

Place the ignition switch in the RUN position in order to supply battery voltage to the left front door lock and side window switch through the following components:

    • The PWR WIND circuit breaker
    • CKT 1001 (DK GRN)

Press the left front window UP switch in order to supply battery voltage to the left front side window regulator motor through CKT 164 (DK BLU). The window motor is grounded through CKT 165 (BRN) and the window switch DOWN contact.

The regulator motor runs to drive the window to the UP position. Press the DOWN window switch in order to provide battery voltage to the window regulator motor in the opposite direction through CKT 165 (BRN). The window regulator motor is grounded through the CKT 164 (DK BLU) and the window switch UP contact. The motor runs in order to drive the window down.

Right Door Lock and Side Window Switch Operation

Place the ignition switch in the RUN position in order to complete the following actions:

    • Supplies voltage through the PWR WIND circuit breaker to the right door lock and side window switch
    • Supplies voltage through CKT 1001 (DK GRN) to terminal F

Press the UP switch in the right front window switch in order to supply battery voltage to the right front side window regulator motor through CKT 666 (DK BLU). The motor is grounded through the following circuits:

    • CKT 667 (BRN): The down contact in the window switch
    • CKT 167 (TAN): The down contact in the left front door lock and side window switch

The motor runs in order to drive the window UP. Press the DOWN window switch in order to supply battery voltage to the window regulator motor in the opposite direction through CKT 667 (BRN).

The motor is grounded through the following circuits:

    • CKT 666 (DK BLU): The up contact in the window switch
    • CKT 166 (LT BLU): The up contact in the left front door lock and side window switch

The motor runs in order to drive the window DOWN.
