Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 298932 Size: SH
  1. Remove the seat from the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement .
  2. Remove the headrest from the seat back. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement .

    3. Object Number: 298942 Size: SH
  3. Separate the J-strip at the base of the seat back.
  4. Separate the J-strip from the sides of the seat.

    5. Object Number: 298953 Size: SH
  5. Remove the seat back release lever bezel, if equipped.

    6. Object Number: 298946 Size: SH
  6. Remove the manual recliner (manual lumbar knob) lever, if equipped.
  7. Remove the seat back to seat frame bolts.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connector, if necessary.
  9. Remove the pivot bolt to seat back and seat bottom.

    10. Object Number: 298914 Size: SH
  10. Separate the seat back pad from the seat back frame.
  11. Remove the two seat back recliner bolts.

    12. The bolts are located on the outboard side of the seat.

  12. Remove the plastic inserts that are attached to the seat back cardboard.
  13. Pull the seat cover over the entire seat back.

    14. Object Number: 298950 Size: SH
  14. Remove the heat element from the seat back, if equipped.

    15. Important: Do not damage the seat fabric when removing the velcro retaining cover.

  15. Remove the heat element wiring from the velcro.
  16. Remove the seat back cover.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 298950 Size: SH
  1. Install the heat element wiring to the velcro, if equipped.
  2. Install the heat element to the seat back, if equipped.

    3. Object Number: 298948 Size: SH
  3. Install the plastic inserts to the seat back cardboard.
  4. Install the two seat back recliner bolts on the outboard side of the seat.

    5. Object Number: 298914 Size: SH
  5. Install the seat back pad to the seat back frame.
  6. Pull the seat cover over the entire seat back.

    7. Important: When placing the seat back to seat bottom, ensure that the pivot bolt goes in first.

  7. Install the pivot bolt to the seat back and the seat bottom.
  8. Connect the electrical connector, if necessary.
  9. Install the seat back to seat frame bolts.

  10. Install the manual recliner (manual lumbar knob) lever, if equipped.

    11. Object Number: 298953 Size: SH
  11. Install the seat back release lever bezel, if equipped.

    12. Object Number: 298942 Size: SH
  12. Engage the J-strips to the sides.
  13. Engage the J-strip at the base of the seat back.
  14. Install the headrest to the seat back. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement .

    15. Object Number: 298932 Size: SH
  15. Install the seat to the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement .
