Removal Procedure

    Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Remove the purge valve electrical connector.

  4. Object Number: 407794  Size: SH
  5. Remove the hoses to the purge valve.

  6. Object Number: 407798  Size: SH
  7. Remove the purge valve nut and the purge valve from the mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 10860  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the purge valve mounting bracket and the attaching nut.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the purge valve mounting bracket attaching nut to 6-10 N·m (53-88 lb in).

  3. Slide the purge valve into the mounting stud.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the purge valve mounting nut to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  5. Install the hoses to the purge valve.

  6. Object Number: 407789  Size: SH
  7. Install the valve electrical connector.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
