Removal Procedure

Notice: Do not attempt to straighten any kinked nylon fuel lines. Replace any kinked nylon fuel feed or return pipes in order to prevent damage to the vehicle.

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Disconnect the fuel feed and return pipes from the fuel rail assembly.
  3. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission-4L60-E, Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission-NV 3500 or Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission-NV 1500.
  4. Disconnect the fuel feed and return pipe connections from the fuel filter assembly. Refer to In-Line Fuel Filter Replacement .
  5. Remove the fuel pipe assembly.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Do not attempt to straighten any kinked nylon fuel lines. Replace any kinked nylon fuel feed or return pipes in order to prevent damage to the vehicle.

    Notice: Always re-attach the fuel lines and fuel filter with all original type fasteners and hardware.

    Do not repair sections of fuel pipes.

  1. Install the fuel pipe assembly.
  2. Install the fuel feed and return pipe connections to the fuel filter assembly. Refer to In-Line Fuel Filter Replacement .
  3. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission-4L60-E Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission-NV 3500, or Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission-NV 1500.
  4. Install the fuel feed and return pipes to the fuel rail assembly.
  5. Inspect for fuel leaks through the following steps:
  6. 5.1. Turn On the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    5.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    5.3. Turn On the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    5.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
