Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 222286  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear propeller shaft. Refer to Rear Propeller Shaft Replacement .
  2. Remove the center bearingg nuts and bolts.
  3. Remove the propeller shaft with the center bearing support from the crossmember.
  4. Remove the shaft from the transmission or transfer case.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 222286  Size: SH

    Important: Install both propeller shafts with the universal joints in phase.

  1. Install the propeller shaft with the center bearing support to the transmission (or to the transfer case) and to the crossmember.
  2. Install the center bearing support bolts to the support bearing.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the nuts with the washers to the support bearing bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 70 N·m (50 lb ft).

  6. Install the rear propeller shaft. Refer to Rear Propeller Shaft Replacement .
