Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement 2.2L

Tools Required

J 39400 Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  2. Object Number: 281156  Size: SH
  3. Remove the compressor suction/discharge hose bolt and the washer.
  4. Remove the compressor suction/discharge hose from the compressor.
  5. Remove the sealing washers.

  6. Object Number: 281163  Size: SH
  7. Remove the compressor suction hose from the accumulator.
  8. Remove the O-ring seal and discard.

  9. Object Number: 281167  Size: SH
  10. Remove the compressor discharge hose from the condenser.
  11. Remove the O-ring seal and discard.

  12. Object Number: 281175  Size: SH
  13. Remove the evaporator tube from the condenser.
  14. Cap or plug all of the open connections.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 281175  Size: SH
  1. Install the evaporator tube to the condenser.
  2. Install a new O-ring seal.
  3. Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the compressor discharge hose to the condenser.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the discharge hose to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  6. Install a new O-ring seal.
  7. Coat the O-ring with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

  8. Install the compressor suction hose to the accumulator.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the suction hose to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  10. Install the sealing washers. Refer to Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement .

  11. Object Number: 281156  Size: SH
  12. Install the compressor suction/discharge hose to the compressor.
  13. Install the compressor suction/discharge hose washer and the bolt.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  15. Evacuate and recharge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  16. Leak test the fitting(s) of the repaired or reinstalled components using the J 39400 .

Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement 4.3L

Tools Required

J 39400 Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  2. Object Number: 281159  Size: SH
  3. Remove the compressor suction/discharge hose bolt and the washer.
  4. Remove the compressor suction/discharge hose from the compressor.
  5. Remove the sealing washers.

  6. Object Number: 3467  Size: SH
  7. Remove the compressor suction hose from the accumulator.
  8. Remove the O-ring seal and discard.
  9. Remove the lower radiator hose.

  10. Object Number: 281172  Size: SH
  11. Remove the compressor discharge hose from the condenser.
  12. Remove the O-ring seal and discard.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install a new O-ring seal.
  2. Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

  8. Install the compressor suction hose to the accumulator.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the suction hose to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  10. Install the sealing washers. Refer to Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement .

  11. Object Number: 281159  Size: SH
  12. Install the compressor suction/discharge hose to the compressor.
  13. Install the compressor suction/discharge hose washer and the bolt.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  15. Evacuate and recharge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  16. Leak test the fitting(s) of the repaired or reinstalled components using the J 39400 .
