J 41396 Park Lock Cable Pliers
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the 3 pan head tapping screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
14.1. | Use the gear shift lever to place the steering column in the park position. |
14.2. | Insert the key into the ignition switch. |
14.3. | Place the steering column lock cylinder set in the off or lock position. |
14.4. | Remove the key from the ignition switch. |
14.5. | Unlock the adjuster ring on the park lock cable assembly using J 41396 . |
14.6. | Pull on the park lock cable until the park lock latch contacts the gear shift lever. |
14.7. | Release the park lock cable. |
14.8. | Lock the adjuster ring securely in place on the park lock cable assembly using J 41396 . |
15.1. | Insert the key into the ignition switch. |
15.2. | Place the steering column lock cylinder set in the off or lock position. The gear shift lever must remain locked in the park position. |
15.3. | Place the steering column lock cylinder set in the run position. |
15.4. | Place the gear shift lever in the neutral position. |
15.5. | With the gear shift lever in the neutral position, the steering column lock cylinder set must remain out of the off or lock position. |
15.6. | Place the gear shift lever in the park position. |
15.7. | Put the steering column lock cylinder set in the off or lock position. |
15.8. | Remove the key from the ignition switch. |

10.1. | Push the key alarm connector (1) into the lock module assembly (2). |
10.2. | Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees so that the key alarm connector locks into place. |
10.3. | Install the Pass-Key® connector into the lock module assembly (2). |
