CONDITION: Some customers may comment about the appearance of the black rectangular exhaust tail pipes on some Oldsmobile Achieva W41 (SCX) and W44 (SC) models.
CAUSE: One or both of the black exhaust tail pipes may not be completely painted or may be completely unpainted.
CORRECTION: Paint the exhaust pipes to get the appearance of the exhaust tail pipes to match. Use GM P/N 12345321, black, low gloss, high temperature engine paint or its equivalent.
Refer to Cautions in Section 10 in the 1992 Achieva Service Manual and the paint container label for all applicable recommendations and warnings as personal injury may result.
1 . Raise vehicle, refer to Section OA in the service manual. 2. Mask area. 3. Prepare area per manufacturer's recommendations on the paint container label. 4. Paint exhaust tail pipes per manufacturers recommendations on the paint container label. 5. Remove masking. 6. Lower vehicle.
