INCONVENIENCE IN REACHING THE FRONT INNER SEAT BELT BUCKLE

SUBJECT INCONVENIENCE IN REACHING THE FRONT INNER SEAT BELT BUCKLE - INSTALL NEW BUCKLE ASSEMBLY

MODELS YEARS 1992 ACHIEVA

This bulletin has been revised to specify that this design change affected the driver's side buckle on both the sedan and coupe models, but on the sedan models it affected the driver's side ONLY. The passenger buckle design on the sedan remained unchanged.

CONDITION: Some owners of 1992 Achievas have commented on the inconvenience of reaching the front inner seat belt buckle.

CAUSE: A midyear design change was made to the seat belt buckle anchor plate resulted in a net reduction of the buckle assembly length.

CORRECTION: On vehicles prior to the VIN breakpoints below, replace both front inner seat belt buckle assemblies with new buckle assemblies. The new buckle assembly has been lengthened from 217 mm (8.5 in.) to 235 mm (9.25 in.). This mid-year change was made in the factory according to color and seat position.
