Removal Procedure
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure .
- Remove the negative battery cable.
- Remove the fuel rail assembly (1) from engine. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement .
- Remove the pressure regulator attaching screw (10).
- Remove the pressure regulator assembly (11) from fuel rail.
Twist back and forth while pulling apart.
Installation Procedure
- Lubricate new rail to regulator inlet fitting O-ring seal (13) with clean engine oil and install in regulator.
- Install the regulator assembly (11).
- Install the pressure regulator attaching screw (10).
- Install the fuel rail assembly (1). Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement .
Important: If fuel pressure regulator is to be reinstalled, inspect filter screen (12) for contamination. If contaminated remove and discard filter screen.
Important: Whenever there is not enough thread-locking material on the threads of reusable hardware, apply Loctite® 262 to ensure proper locking.
Tighten
Tighten the regulator attaching screw to 11.5 N·m (102 lb
in).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
