Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 28733-A Front Hub Spindle
Remover.
- Remove the drive axle nut. Refer to
Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement
in Wheel Drive Shafts.
- Remove the brake caliper bolts and support the caliper. Refer to
Brake Caliper Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the rotor. Refer to
Brake Rotor Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the rotor. Refer to
Brake Rotor Replacement
. Disconnect
the ABS sensor harness connector from the retaining bracket and wiring harness.
- Remove the hub and bearing assembly (1)
from the steering knuckle (2).
Installation Procedure
- Install the hub and bearing assembly (1)
to the steering knuckle (2).
- Connect the ABS sensor harness connector from the retaining bracket and
wiring harness.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the hub and bearing assembly bolts (5).
Tighten
Tighten the hub and bearing assembly bolts to 95 N·m (70 lb ft).
- Install the rotor. Refer to
Brake Rotor Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Install the brake caliper and the bolts. Refer to
Brake Caliper Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Install the drive axle nut. Refer to
Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement
in Wheel Drive Shafts.
- Check the front wheel alignment. Refer to
Wheel Alignment Specifications
in Wheel Alignment.
