Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recharging, and Recycling Station

  1. Recover the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the right tire/wheel assembly. Refer to Wheel Removal in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Partially remove the right splash guard.

  5. Object Number: 366921  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the connection (3) from the receiver dehydrator (4). Discard the O-ring (1) seals.

  7. Object Number: 366918  Size: SH
  8. Remove the line (4) from the retaining clips (5) on the body side rail (7).

  9. Object Number: 366922  Size: SH
  10. Remove the fitting (1,4) from the evaporator. Discard the O-ring seals.

Installation Procedure

  1. Set the evaporator tube in place.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fitting (1,4) to the evaporator using new O-ring seals.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

  5. Install the line (4) to the retaining clips (5) on the body side rail (7).

  6. Object Number: 366921  Size: SH
  7. Connect the connection (3) at the receiver dehydrator (4) using new O-ring (1) seals.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  9. Install the splash panel.
  10. Install the right tire/wheel assembly. Refer to Wheel Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Evacuate and charge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
