Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Recover the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Remove the hood latch assembly.
  4. Mark the position of the attaching nuts in order to ensure that you install the latch in the same position.

  5. Remove the hood latch support assembly.

  7. Remove the condenser outlet line. Discard the O-ring seals.
  8. Remove the condenser inlet line (5) and the retaining clamp (6) on the radiator side tank. Discard the O-ring seals.
  9. Remove the retaining bolts (3) from the radiator (1).
  10. Lift the condenser (2) upward. Remove the condenser by turning in a counter-clockwise direction.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the condenser (2) by turning in a clockwise direction.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  3. Install the condenser inlet line (5) and the retaining clamp (6) using the new O-ring seals.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  5. Install the condenser (2) outlet line using the new O-ring seals.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  7. Install the hood latch support.
  8. Line up the scribe marks in order to properly align the hood.
  9. Install the hood latch assembly.

  10. Evacuate and charge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  11. Perform a leak test. Refer to Leak Testing .
  12. Connect the negative battery cable.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
