Installation Procedure

Tools Required

J 36660-A Torque Angle Meter

    Object Number: 60369 Size: SH
  1. Install the front cover gasket. The gasket is reusable and does not require sealer.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the upper front cover bolts.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  5. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

The correct part number fastener must be used to replace this type of fastener. Do not use a bolt that is stronger in this application. If the correct bolt is not used, the parts will not be tightened correctly. The system or the components may be damaged.
