• | J 24460-01 Universal
Cooling System and Cap Pressure Tester |
Notice: Pressure above 139 kPa (20psi) should not be used when pressure
testing the cooling system. Pressures over 138 kPa (20) psi will damage the
radiator.
- Inspect the connections for leaks.
- Repair the connections as required.
- Remove the surge tank cap.
- Attach the J 42401-02
(3), theJ 42401-04
(2), and the J 24460-01
(1) to the surge tank.
Follow the instructions supplied with the J 24460-01
.
- Build up the pressure to no more than 138 kpa (20 psi).
- The system should hold the pressure for about 2 minutes.
• | If a measurable amount of pressure drops in less than 2 minutes,
test for a leak. |
• | Mark the leaking area. Remove and replace the radiator if necessary.

Cooling System Filler Cap
Tools Required

Cooling System and Cap Pressure Tester |
- Inspect the hose connections for leaks.
- Inspect the surge tank cap. Use the J 24460-01
and the J 42401-04
in order to test the cap for rated pressure. Replace the surge tank
cap if the cap will not hold pressure.
- Inspect for damage or debris on the gasket in the cap and the
inner sealing surface of the filler neck.
- Use the correct cap.
