For 1990-2009 cars only
- Raise the vehicle.
- Disconnect the fuel pump connector.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Start and run the engine until the fuel supply remaining in the fuel pipes is consumed. Engage the starter for 3 seconds in order to assure relief of any remaining pressure.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Reconnect the fuel pump connector.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable in order to avoid possible fuel discharge if an accidental attempt to start the engine is made .
Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.
