Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 441981  Size: SH
  1. Remove the tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .
  2. Remove the 3 Torx® head screws from the lower column trim cover (3).
  3. Remove the upper column trim cover (1) tilting up and unsnapping from the lower column trim cover hinges (3).
  4. Remove the lower column trim cover (3) from the steering column (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the lower column trim cover (3) to the steering column (2).
  2. Install the upper column trim cover (1) to the steering column (2).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the Torx® head screws to the lower steering column trim cover (3).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  6. Install the tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .
