Front Floor Console Replacement Pontiac
Removal Procedure
- Position the front seats
to the most rearward position.
- Position the park brake lever to the full up position.
- Remove the front floor console trim plate. Refer to
Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement

- Remove the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to
Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement
.
- Remove the front floor console cup holder. Refer to
Front Floor Console Cup Holder Replacement
.
- Lift up the front floor console armrest and remove the rubber
mat from the storage compartment.
- Remove the rear bolts from the front floor console storage compartment.
- Remove the center bolts from the sides of the front floor console.
- Remove the front screw covers at the front of the front floor
console, using a small flat-bladed tool at the front edge.
- Remove the front screws from the front floor console.
- Remove the front nuts from the front floor console bracket.
- Remove the front floor console, pulling up and rearward, guiding
the park brake lever boot over the park brake lever.
Installation Procedure
- Install the front floor
console, sliding forward and donwward, guiding the park brake lever boot over
the park brake lever.
- Position and engage the front retainers by pressing inward, until
the retainers are fully seated.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the rear
bolts to the front floor console storage compartment.
Tighten
Tighten the front floor console rear bolts to 10 N·m(89 lb in).
- Install the center bolts to the sides of the front floor console.
Tighten
Tighten the front floor console center bolts to 10 N·m(89 lb in).
- Install the front screws to the front floor console.
Tighten
Tighten the front floor console front screws to 2 N·m(18 lb in).
- Install the front screw covers at the front of the front floor
console, pressing into place until fully seated.
- Install the front nuts to the front floor console bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the front floor console front nuts to 2 N·m(18 lb in).
- Install the front floor console cup holder. Refer to

- Install the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to
Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement

- Install the front floor console trim plate. Refer to
Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement
.
- Release the park brake lever to the full down position.
- Install the rubber mat to the storage compartment, and lower the
front floor console armrest.
- Reposition the front seats to the original position.

Removal Procedure
- Position the front seats

- Lift up the front floor console armrest and remove the rubber
mat from the storage compartment.
- Remove the rear bolts from the front floor console storage compartment.

- Release the front retainers by pulling outward the front sides
of the front floor console.
- Remove the front floor console, pulling up and rearward, guiding
the park brake lever boot over the park brake lever.

- Release the park brake lever to the full down position.
- Install the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to

- Install the front floor console trim plate. Refer to
Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement
.
- Install the rubber mat to the storage compartment, and lower the
front floor console armrest.
- Reposition the front seats to the original position.
