Adjustment Procedure
- Loosen the bolts for the
hood latch.
- Adjust the front hood
bumpers on the radiator support until the hood (1) aligns with the
front of the fenders. Turn the bumper in the following directions:
• | Clockwise in order to lower the bumper |
• | Counterclockwise in order to raise the bumper |
- Measure the difference between the hood and the rear of the fender.
- Obtain a shim that is the same thickness as the difference between
the hood and the rear of the fender.
- Loosen the hood hinge
bolts.
- Install the shim between the hood hinge and the hood.
- Tighten the hood latch bolts by hand until they are snug.
- Position the hood latch upward.
- Tighten the hood latch
bolts by hand until they are snug.
- Carefully close the hood in order to engage the following components:
- Adjust the clearance between the hood and fender.
- Carefully open the hood.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Fully tighten the
hood latch bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the hood latch bolts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Fully tighten the hood hinge bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the hood latch bolts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
