Removal Procedure

Remove the side trim panel retainers.

Disengage the retainers.

Remove the hood primary latch release cable screw.
Remove the hood primary latch release cable handle from the hinge pillar.
Remove the hood primary latch release cable ball from the hood primary and secondary latch.
Push the grommet from the engine compartment into the passenger compartment.

Clean the old sealant from dash panel hole.

Remove the hood latch release cable.

Installation Procedure

Install the hood primary latch release cable through the hole in the dash panel.
Apply the appropriate sealer to the grommet. Pull the grommet from the engine compartment until the grommet is seated in the dash panel hole.
Install the hood primary latch release cable ball to the hood primary and secondary latch.
Install the hood primary latch release cable handle to the hinge pillar.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the hood primary latch release cable screw.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 2.5 N·m (55 lb in).

Install the side trim panel retainers.

Ensure the unit is retained.
