Important: A short to ground will cause an open fuse(s). Before performing this diagnostic procedure, inspect the fuse(s) for an open.

  1. Disconnect the power mirror switch connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between terminal G (E Pontiac) of the power mirror switch connector and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a test lamp between terminal B (D Pontiac) and terminal G (E Pontiac) of the power mirror switch connector.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 4

Use a test lamp in order to backprobe connector C3 of the left IP wiring harness junction block between terminal B10 and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Replace the power mirror switch. Refer to Outside Rearview Mirror Replacement .

Repair the open in the ground circuit between the power mirror switch and ground splice pack G301. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the fuse output-battery circuit between the left IP wiring harness junction block and the power mirror switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the left IP wiring harness junction block. Refer to Underhood Fuse Block Replacement in Engine Electrical.
