Backup Lamp Replacement Pontiac
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the bulb/socket
from the backup lamp by rotating counterclockwise.
- Remove the bulb from the
socket, if required.
- Remove the nuts from the
backup lamp.
- Remove the backup lamp
from the rear bumper fascia.
Installation Procedure
- Install the backup lamp
to the rear bumper fascia.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the backup lamp nuts to the backup lamp.
Tighten
Tighten the backup lamp nuts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the bulb to the
socket, if required.
- Install the bulb/socket
to the backup lamp.
- Rotate the bulb/socket clockwise to secure it to the backup lamp.
- Lower the vehicle.
Backup Lamp Replacement Oldsmobile
Removal Procedure
- Open the rear compartment.
- Remove the thumb nuts from the backup lamp.
- Remove the backup lamp from the rear compartment lid.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the backup lamp.
- Remove the backup lamp from the vehicle.
- Disconnect the electrical connector retainer from the backup lamp
housing, if required.
- Remove the bulb/socket from the backup lamp by rotating counterclockwise,
if required.
- Remove the bulbs from the sockets, if required.
Installation Procedure
- Install the bulbs to the
sockets, if required.
- Install the bulb/socket to the backup lamp by rotating
clockwise, if required.
- Connect the electrical connector retainer to the backup lamp housing,
if required.
- Connect the electrical connector to the backup lamp.
- Install the backup lamp to the rear compartment lid.
- Install the thumb nuts to the backup lamp, and hand tighten.
- Close the rear compartment.
