Hood Latch Support Replacement Oldsmobile
Removal Procedure
- Open the hood.
- Remove the headlamp housing
panel. Refer to
Headlamp Housing Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the hood latch. Refer to
Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement
.
- Remove the nuts (2) from the hood latch support.
- Remove the bolts (1) from the hood latch support.
- Remove the hood latch support (3).
Installation Procedure
- Install the hood latch
support (3).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the hood
latch support bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the hood latch support bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the hood latch support nuts (2).
Tighten
Tighten the hood latch support nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the hood latch. Refer to
Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement
.
- Install the headlamp housing panel. Refer to
Headlamp Housing Panel Replacement
.
- Close the hood.
Hood Latch Support Replacement Pontiac
Removal Procedure
- Open the hood.
- Remove the radiator air baffle assemblies and deflectors, upper
panel.
- Remove the hood latch. Refer to
Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement
.
- Remove the upper bolts (1) from the latch support (3).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the lower nuts (2) from the latch support (3).
- Remove the hood latch support (3).
Installation Procedure
- Position the hood latch
support (3) to the vehicle.

- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the hood latch support bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the hood latch support bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the hood latch. Refer to

.
- Install the radiator air baffle assemblies and deflectors, upper
panel.
- Close the hood.
