Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative
battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the instrument panel (I/P) outer trim covers (1,3).
- Loosen the electrical
connector bolt at the outboard I/P junction block. Disengage the electrical
connector tabs in order to disconnect the electrical connector from the junction
block. The left side is shown in the graphic, the right side is similar.
- On the driver side of
the vehicle, perform the following procedures:
4.1. | Disengage the junction block tabs from the cross vehicle beam. |
4.2. | Pull the junction block away from the I/P. |
4.3. | Loosen the electrical connector bolts on the inboard I/P junction
block. Disengage the electrical connector tabs in order to disconnect the
inboard electrical connectors from the junction block. |
- On the passenger side
of the vehicle, perform the following procedures:
5.1. | Remove the I/P compartment. |
5.2. | Loosen the electrical connector bolts on the inboard I/P junction
block. Disengage the electrical connector tabs in order to disconnect the
inboard electrical connectors from the junction block. |
5.3. | Disengage the junction block tabs from the cross vehicle beam. |
- Remove the fuses and relays from the junction block.
- Remove the junction block.
Installation Procedure
- Position the junction
block to the vehicle.
- Install the fuses and relays to the junction block.
- On the passenger side of the vehicle, perform the following procedures:
3.1. | Install the junction block to the cross vehicle beam. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
3.2. | Connect the inboard I/P electrical connectors to the junction block. |
Tighten
Tighten the connector bolts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
3.3. | Install the I/P compartment. |
- On the driver side of
the vehicle, perform the following procedures:
4.1. | Connect the inboard I/P electrical connectors to the junction
block. |
