Removal Procedure

Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Wheel Removal .

  3. Object Number: 160493 Size: SH
  4. Remove the ELC height sensor link from the control arm (2).
  5. Remove the two bolts. Move the ELC height sensor for clearance when removing the stabilizer shaft (4).
  6. Remove the following from the control arm (2):
  7. • The stabilizer shaft link assembly bolt (7)
    • The nut (13)
    • The retainers (8, 11)
    • The sleeve (10)
    • The insulators (9, 12)
  8. Remover the clamp bolt (6). Bend the open end of the clamp (5) upward.
  9. Remove the stabilizer shaft (4) and the insulator (3).
  10. Remove the insulator (3) from the stabilizer shaft (4).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 160493 Size: SH
  1. Install an insulator (3) on the stabilizer shaft (4).
  2. Install the stabilizer shaft (4) and the insulator (3).
  3. Install the insulator (3) into the clamp (5) with the slit forward.
  4. Bend the link downward to close around the insulator. Center the stabilizer shaft (4).
  5. Install the clamp bolt (6).
  6. Install the link assembly insulators (9, 12), the sleeve (10), and the retainers (8, 11).
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the support bolt (7) and the nut (13).
  9. Tighten

        • Tighten the link assembly bolt (7) to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
        • Tighten the clamp bolt (6) to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).
  10. Install the ELC height sensor.
  11. Install the two bolts.
  12. Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  13. Install the height sensor link to the control arm (2).
  14. Install the tire and the wheel assemblies. Refer to Wheel Installation .
  15. Lower the vehicle.
