Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 106224  Size: SH
  4. Pull down on the park brake cable near the park brake connector (1).
  5. Disconnect the right (5) and left (2) rear park brake cables from the rear equalizer (1).
  6. Remove both park brake cables from their connectors by depressing retaining tabs on the cable housings and pulling the cables out of the brackets.

  7. Object Number: 420689  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the park brake cables from the park brake levers.
  9. Remove the right and left cable from the caliper support brackets by depressing the retainer tabs.

  10. Object Number: 420687  Size: SH
  11. Remove the park brake rear cable bracket bolt from the control arm.
  12. Remove the rear park brake cable.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 106224  Size: SH
  1. Install both park brake cables (2), (5) into their brackets by snapping them into place.
  2. Connect both park brake cables to the equalizer (1).

  3. Object Number: 420689  Size: SH
  4. Install the right and left cables into the caliper support brackets by snapping into place.
  5. Connect the park brake cables to the park brake levers.
  6. Pull on the intermediate park brake cable.
  7. Install the park brake intermediate cable.

  8. Object Number: 420687  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Install the park brake cable bracket bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the park brake cable bracket bolt to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  11. Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  12. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
