Power Steering Pump Replacement LX5

Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Remove the fuel injector site shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical-3.5L.
  3. Remove the power steering pump pulley from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 627268  Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering pump pressure hose (1) from the power steering pump.

  6. Object Number: 627263  Size: SH
  7. Remove the power steering pump return hose from the power steering pump.

  8. Object Number: 294001  Size: SH
  9. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  10. Remove the power steering pump.
  11. Remove the power steering pump reservoir from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 294001  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering pump reservoir to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle .
  2. Install the power steering pump to the vehicle.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the power steering pump return hose to the power steering pump.

  7. Object Number: 627268  Size: SH
  8. Install the power steering pump pressure hose (1) to the power steering pump.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump pressure hose to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  10. Install the power steering pump pulley to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  11. Install the fuel injector site shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical-3.5L.
  12. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  13. Inspect the power steering system for leaks.

Power Steering Pump Replacement L47

Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical-4.0L.

  3. Object Number: 627256  Size: SH
  4. Remove the power steering pressure line from the power steering pump.

  5. Object Number: 105265  Size: SH
  6. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering pump.

  7. Object Number: 105222  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering pump bracket mounting bolt.
  9. Remove the power steering pump assembly.
  10. Remove the power steering pulley from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  11. Remove the power steering pump reservoir from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump reservoir to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle .
  2. Install the power steering pulley to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  3. Install the power steering pump to the vehicle.

  4. Object Number: 105222  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   7. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.

  8. Object Number: 627256  Size: SH
  9. Install the power steering pressure line to the power steering pump.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the hose to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  11. Install the power steering pump pulley to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  12. Install the accessory drive belt to the pump. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical-4.0L.
  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  14. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks .
  15. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
