J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture


    Object Number: 516159  Size: SH
  1. If necessary, install the closeout trim cover (2) onto the upper trim cover (1).

  2. Object Number: 419647  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the upper trim cover (1) with the closeout trim cover (2) and secure by using 1 TORX® head screw (3).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  5. Install the lower trim cover (1).
  6. Connect the lower trim cover (1) to the closeout trim cover.
  7. Install 2 pan head tapping screws (2).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  9. Remove 2 screws from the top piece of J 41352 .
  10. Take the column out from J 41352 .
  11. Remove the bottom piece of J 41352 from the vise.
  12. Caution: Improper routing of the wire harness assembly may damage the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. This may result in a malfunction of the coil, which may cause personal injury.

  13. Remove the steering column and J 41352 from the vise.
  14. Install the steering column into the vehicle. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  15. Install the steering wheel onto the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  16. Install the tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .
  17. Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
