Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

Important:: The sunload sensor assembly must indicate low light conditions for the interior lamps to operate.

  1. Open and Close all of the doors.
  2. Turn the courtesy lamp switch ON and OFF.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Do the I/P courtesy lamps operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the reading/courtesy lamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool, command the Non -- Overhead Lamps Rela ON and OFF from the rear integration module (RIM) Output Control data list.

Do both of the I/P courtesy lamps turn ON and OFF with each command?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the FRT CTSY relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Probe the FRT CTSY relay control side supply voltage circuit with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Probe the FRT CTSY relay switch side ground circuit with a test lamp that is connected to battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Connect a 10-amp fused jumper between the FRT CTSY relay switch side ground circuit and the I/P courtesy lamps control circuit.

Do both of the I/P courtesy lamps illuminate?

Go to Step 8

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the FRT CTSY relay control side supply voltage circuit and the front interior lamp control circuit.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With the scan tool, command the Non -- Overhead Lamps Rela ON and OFF.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

  1. Disconnect the inoperative I/P courtesy lamp bulb.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the inoperative I/P courtesy lamp bulb courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit and inoperative I/P courtesy lamp bulb courtesy lamp control circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 14

Test for an open circuit or high resistance in the front interior lamp control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the I/P courtesy lamps courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the FRT CTSY relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear integration module (RIM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the I/P courtesy lamp bulb. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair open circuit in the FRT CTSY relay control side supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair open circuit in the FRT CTSY relay switch side ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair open circuit in the courtesy lamp control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the FRT CTSY relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Important:: Perform the setup procedure for the RIM after replacement.

Replace the RIM. Refer to Rear Integration Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Replace the inoperative I/P courtesy lamps bulb.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
