Circuit Description

The IPC monitors the Trip Reset and the Trip A/B switches in order to perform certain functions. The IPC detects a switch activation when the signal circuit is low.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B2823

The IPC detects that the Trip Reset switch signal circuit is low for greater than 15 seconds.

B3574

The IPC detects that the Trip A/B switch signal circuit is low for greater than 15 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The IPC ignores the malfunctioning switch circuit.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The current DTC becomes history when the fault is no longer present.
    • The IPC receives a clear code command from the scan tool.

Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the suspect switch parameter in the Instrument Panel Cluster data list.

Does the scan tool display OFF?

Go to Step 3

  1. Depress the suspect trip odometer switch.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the suspect switch parameter.

Does the suspect switch parameter change state?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the trip odometer reset switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the suspect switch parameter.

Does the scan tool display OFF?

Go to Step 7

Test the signal circuit of the suspect trip odometer switch for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the IPC. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the trip odometer reset switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.

Does the DTC reset?
