Cleaning Procedure
  1. Clean the following components in cleaning solvent:
    2. • The balance shaft
    • The balance shaft retainer

    Caution: Wear safety glasses in order to avoid eye damage.

  2. Dry the following components with compressed air:
    3. • The balance shaft
    • The balance shaft retainer

Inspection Procedure

    Object Number: 576563 Size: SH
  1. Inspect the balance shaft for the following:
    2. • Wear or scoring on the bearing journals (1)
    • Wear or scoring to the retainer groove (2)
    • Inspect the balance shaft sprocket (3) for the following:
       - Excessive wear or damage
       - Nicks, burrs, or scoring

  2. Inspect the balance shaft retainer (1) for wear or damage.
  3. Inspect the balance shaft bolts (2) for damaged threads.
  4. Repair or replace the balance shaft and/or balance shaft retainer as necessary.
